Lee Lederberg, Partner at Edwards Veeder Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, explains how his practice has benefited from the Lifecycle network, provided by Leonard
Curtis Business Solutions Group.
“Edwards Veeder is a fast‐growing chartered accountancy practice based in Chadderton with four partners and 25 staff offering a full range of services including: accountancy, business consultancy, audit, book‐keeping, corporate finance, tax and self‐assessment, payroll and independent finance advice.
“We work for a wide range of clients from local trade professionals to multi‐national plcs and, in recent years, have developed a specialist expertise in the hotel management sector, advising UK and international investors on market approach and activity.
“We were first introduced to the directors at Leonard Curtis Business Solutions Group around five years ago, by a client, and saw an immediate fit with us. They were offering high quality, noncompeting, complementary services which we knew would add value to our own portfolio.
“So the first thing we looked at accessing was their corporate restructuring and insolvency service. With over 30 qualified Insolvency Practitioners, Leonard Curtis has established a market‐leading specialism in this area and provided us with experts to support our clients facing financial difficulties, as an extension of the Edwards Veeder team.
“Then as the Lifecycle network was launched and new services were added we took another look, this time focusing on its legal service offering, which we have used particularly in support of our hotel sector activity.
“Leonard Curtis Legal offers advice on employment law, commercial contracts, landlord and tenant matters, regulatory law, dispute resolution, advice to directors on their duties and debt recovery along with acting for purchasers on the acquisition of distressed businesses.
“We found this support invaluable and it was again delivered with the quality and professionalism we have come to expect from Leonard Curtis. It is a second to none service ethos.
“What makes Lifecycle different from other networks is probably the bespoke, non‐competing nature of what they do. Accountancy is a competitive world so while you might share challenges and solutions with your peer group, you do need to protect your client base at all times. Leonard Curtis has assured us from the start that the firm does not do accountancy work. It simply looks for ways to support accountants to offer additional, highly relevant services. This was reassuring.
“The network has also given us access to up‐to‐date taxation advice and we have used the company’s unique My‐MVL online application package, which has streamlined the whole process of Members’ Voluntary Liquidation for both us and our clients, saving a lot of time and money.
