For those accountants interested in Lifecycle’s recent UK-wide roadshow on Tax Avoidance Schemes, they can now benefit from valuable CPD training online with the release of a one hour webinar version.
Designed to equip accountants with the skills and knowledge to further enhance their service offering – it’s the first in a series of free training courses made available to Lifecycle members. Members can view the webinar for free by clicking here to access their personal dashboard.
And if you’re not already a member then simply click here to register. You can then view the webinar from the training section of the website.
The topic of this session is tax avoidance schemes one year on from the EBT settlement opportunity. To put it into context, many companies used marketed tax avoidance schemes to reward their directors and employees – remuneration that HMRC has always sought to challenge.
To tackle the issue most swiftly and effectively, legislation on tax avoidance is tightening – giving HMRC greater powers to tackle such schemes. However, it hasn’t always addressed historic arrangements. While HMRC consider that the recent EBT settlement opportunity was a relative success, there remain thousands of outstanding cases and these are a source of major concern for businesses who use them who, in turn, are seeking advice from their accountants.
The purpose of this webinar is to show that whilst this is a complicated, uncertain and ever-changing landscape, your clients do still have options.
Firstly, our consultant tax specialist Chris O’Hara will provide an update on the current position, as well as discussing the measures HMRC has taken to tackle tax avoidance.
Then Andrew Gregory, the head of Leonard Curtis Legal, will take a look at some relevant, recent legal cases in this area.
Chris O’Hara will then consider the options available to your clients if they need to deal with such schemes.
And finally, LCBSG’s Julien Irving will give some guidance on the options available to clients if they are unable to pay – including time to pay arrangements and restructuring options.
We hope you find the webinar interesting and if you would like any more information or have any questions, please visit https://lclifecycle.co.uk or call for free on 03300 242 333.
