19th January 2017
Leonard Curtis Business Solutions Group (LCBSG) – providers of the Lifecycle accountant network – has opened the doors to its first Scottish office in Glasgow. It comes just over a month after the new Bankruptcy (Scotland) Bill 2016 was passed by the country’s Parliament.
The Group delivers positive strategic advice to business owners – providing them with a wide range of highly valuable expertise and bespoke solutions to whatever problems their businesses may face.
Predominantly the Group assist SMEs – making it particularly suited to the Scottish market where nearly 350,000 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises are registered. These provide an estimated 1.2 million jobs and account for 99% of all private sector enterprises, 54% of private sector employment and 40% of private sector turnover.
It’s the professional services provider’s 13th UK location and now gives its Scottish client base immediate, local access to a wide range of business, restructuring and legal advice.
The Group’s new Glasgow office is headed up by Stuart Robb who joined LCBSG from a Big Four practice in Scotland where he gained a wealth of experience of the Scottish insolvency market. Stuart has already been joined by a number of key appointments to support him and more are planned.
It’s the first time in a generation that Scottish laws on insolvency have been brought together into one piece of legislation – capturing all of the amendments made to the primary legislation governing bankruptcy in Scotland. This includes the Bankruptcy (Scotland) Act 1985 as well as new laws brought in since, including the Bankruptcy and Debt Advice (Scotland) Act 2014, which came into force in April 2015.
General opinion among professionals is that by the consolidation of all the various elements of legislation in one place, the complex area of bankruptcy in Scotland, will be made more accessible for insolvency professionals, advisers and those experiencing financial difficulties.
Daniel Booth, Director at LCBSG, said: “We are obviously delighted to build on our success across the UK with this strategic expansion into Scotland. Opening an office in Glasgow was a key objective in terms of our development and we are confident that the Leonard Curtis approach will ensure that we establish a strong presence in years to come.”
Julien Irving, Director at LC Recovery added: “Our wide ranging specialisms – along with expanding geographical reach and many benefits of the Lifecycle network – mean that we’re able to offer clients a different service to other providers.”
Stuart Robb, who leads LCBSG’s Glasgow office, said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead the Leonard Curtis practice in Scotland and play a part in building their brand and reputation here. Despite the challenges and uncertainties facing the restructuring market in Scotland at the moment, I believe that our unique approach to the market, coupled with our wide range of service offerings, means that we offer something a little different and help demonstrate real value add for our clients”.
“The move will enable us to service accountants and their SME clients with an impressive array of products and services. We also envisage that through our existing banking and ABL relationships, we can resolve any issues we are presented with.”
